Thursday March 21st 2013
The 2013 Paul Wilson Memorial Run Thursday, March 21st There will be a kick-off party Wednesday, March 20, 2013, 6:30-8:00 pm, at Hinckley Automotive, 2309 South State, Salt Lake City, the OLDEST Dodge dealership in the country! "Tour of small town Utah". This year's route is the one that Paul fell in love with the first time he came out to Utah. It takes a little longer, but we have more fun along the way. We will meet at One Man Band Diner, 1220 East Main, off of I-15 exit 279 in Lehi, at 7:00 am for those who want breakfast before we leave. We leave One Man Band at 8:15am, and head out to Pioneer Crossing, to Redwood Road, and past the west side of Utah Lake. This will take us through the towns of Elberta and Goshen. We will go through Goshen Canyon, which is a beautiful road to drive, but not very trailer friendly, this leg is best for those that are driving! If you are towing instead of driving, you may want to meet us at Painter's in Nephi. Next will be Mona, and into Nephi, where we will stop at Painter Motor, 1100 North Main, Nephi, Utah, 435-628-0686, at about 10:00 am. We hit the road by 10:30, down main street Nephi, turning on state road 132, up Nephi canyon, going through the towns of Fountain Green, Moroni, Ephraim, where we join the historic State Road 89. Next will be a stop in Manti, and then Sterling, and Gunnison. Next will be Centerfield, Axtell and Salina, where we take I-70 to Richfield, for a lunch stop, and try to meet up with the group coming from Grand Junction.
We will meet up at the Walmart parking lot after lunch, heading west on I-70, to 89 south, where we go through Marysvale, Junction, Circleville, and a stop in Panguitch. Next are Hatch, Glendale, and Mount Carmel, and we enter Zion National Park at Mount Carmel Junction. There is a $25 fee to get through the park. It is always fun to figure out which town the old cop car with the mannequin in it will be! The tunnel in Zion is amazing in itself, combine the beauty with that many Mopars going through at the same time, makes for a bucket list type experience. This beautiful and unique scenery in this area of Utah can't be found anywhere else in the world! This should put us in Saint George about 6pm. We will make a stop at Painter's in St. George, 1600 Hilton Dr. Once back on I-15, the next stop is Las Vegas (but don't forget the beautiful drive through the Virgin River Gorge!)
