38 Years in the making
Las Vegas, NV (February 20, 2010) – In past years at Mopars at the Strip the following definition has been a requirement. All years and models of Mopar family vehicles welcomed. Must be Mopar bodied with a Mopar Engine. An AMC friendly event.
The following modification has been added since the 2009 Bankruptcy of the Chrysler Corporation or Old Chrysler as we know it. Change is upon us whether we agree with it or not. In this global market place that seems to be the future. Some universal understandings need to be addressed.
What is a Mopar engine. With the blending of a global economy, this definition is a broad as is the question. Example from NHRA Top Fuel or Funny Car. Is a Toyota bodied race car with spark plugs in the heads a Toyota Hemi, Or a Mopar Hemi? The question is being asked by many who would like to attend the event but have some blended race components in their motors. Since I don't have the correct answer I am asking for your help in some tolerance towards this matter. With Chrysler blending with AMC, then Daimler, and now with Fiat. Again the question, what is a Mopar engine. If parts are being manufactured around the world without patents from original Mopar Designs and now being modified and sent back to America for consumers this blending makes for a hot topic and some firm opinions. It is our position at JP Motor Sports as enthusiast ourselves. That some tolerance is needed on this question. In this economy it is our view that we need to work together if we want events like Mopars at the Strip to survive. So please think about this question and work with and have tolerance for competitor who have blended parts in their drive train. Remember this event is designed to have integrity and be a brake from the day to day grind we are all in. Fun and enjoyment is why we do this!
The Pony Car Wars. New Challenger, Camaro and Mustang owners are encouraged to attend the event. We are all adults here aren't we? I am asking you to show our fellow motor sports and car lovers a warm welcome. We want them to attend and see how great a mopar event is, and show them what they have been missing. Many have called the atmosphere at Mopars at the Strip like a big family reunion. What a complement! Our friends with New Camaros and Mustangs should be welcomed with a warm reception from all. Look around in traffic and notice all of the blended vehicles. It is hard at times to tell one from another. A Challenger, A Mustang, or a New Camaro stick out, Why? Cause they are cool. A two door hot rod, that is performance based. Now if that isn't politically incorrect, I don't know what is. Remember this is America. We have been free to choose how we spend our hard earned money. It's been 38 Years since all three domestic car manufactures had a two door Hot Rod. Let's celebrate this time together. We may never see this again in our life time. So enjoy and please welcome our Muscle Car friends to the Wildest Mopar Party in the West.
As many of you know my family had both of their Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge Dealerships terminated in last years Chrysler Bankruptcy. Our franchise has been given to our next door neighbor in St. George, Utah (see Phil Painter or 65 years Vs 65 feet).
Our neighbor is a high ranking member of the National Auto Dealers Association, who was part of the task force in the dealer terminations. Many of you have called me and shared your outrage with me over the phone and asked how you can help. Final thought. As a family we sincerely appreciate your kind words of encouragement during this frustrating time. We also want you to know that we feel it is a honor and a privilege to be part of your wonderful event and your hobby. Together we can make a difference.
